The 2019 edition of the 4X4Fest has come to an end: four-wheel drive passion, meetings at the Mud Café, successful tours, track, sand emotion but also great attention to women and environmental protection.

For the first time, the SUR-RON electric motorcycles modified by the Flat Track School in collaboration with partner ZuccoSuspension were on display as were the ITALWIN and CICLI ADRIATICA e-bikes.

The three days of the event were animated by the accessorists and preparers, some traditional exhibitors of the Show, others new entries: 4Technique, AF 4×4, Distanziali, Evocorse, HM 4×4, Italgiunti, M.DI4x4, MAK, Modulidea, Mondo 4×4, Oram, Race4Tech , Ramingo 4×4, Raptor 4×4, Rock’s, RTeam, Saito, Totani, Trasmec, XQuattro, ZIFER Italy and ZMode; for the lubricants sector: Ceramic Power Liquid, Rothen Oil and Pakelo; among the foreign exhibitors: Dream Team Car companies (France), Ullstein Concept (Germany), Fédération Française des 4×4 (France), Trayon Campers Europe (Switzerland), Almont 4WD (Spain), Bravo Snorkel (Spain), Aventura-GPS (Spain) and Rtechnology (Bulgaria).

The success of the event lies in the combination of exhibition, performances, shows, rallies and the test-drives on the renewed outdoor track with a perfect synthesis between safety and extravaganza. The aim was to create something new that would enhance the obstacles and outdoor activities for the benefit of all enthusiasts and operators in the sector, with a new entrance to the test drives on the track making the shows easier to reach and see. The off-road vehicle preparers were able to have their vehicles tested on the track too. The track recorded 3700 test drives and 195 Trial runs, in addition to 350 people registered for the mini driving/safety courses. There were 1454 tests carried out on the Jeep truck.

On the quad and motorbike front, there were respectively 300 and 320 tests on the two dedicated tracks.

The Sand Emotion beach Cross test circuit, followed by FIF instructors and open to all enthusiasts with off-road vehicles (with all-wheel drive and gearboxes) had a record number of participants (almost 250!).

Private individuals were allowed access to the beach during the three days of the 4x4Fest too, on board their own vehicles with particular attention to the territory. The “4x4Fest Thinks Green” good practice educational project, organised by Imm_CarraraFiere and Nausicaa (two companies in which the Municipality has stakes), created ecological islands on the sand for separate waste collection. The project also involved the younger ones in an educational project with a  video game designed to educate children about the environment while having fun.

“We are very satisfied with the results achieved in terms of numbers and the appreciation from exhibitors, who confirm the success of the event. An event that has no equal in Italy and that is one of the first in Europe for the off-road sector, especially at a time of objective difficulty that the sector is experiencing globally – FabioFelici, IMM_CarraraFiere Chairman commented – Beyond the success of the event, the other strong reason for satisfaction lies in the awareness that, thanks to the strong influx of visitors attracted, the event also represents an economic driving force for our territory”.

More than 700 took part in the TOURS and RALLIES, which represent a different way of getting to know our territory: the Breccia Capraia quarry, the Fantiscritti quarry and the Corchia quarry.  The 2nd FIF National CarraraFest Multibrand Rally brought together a total of 55 crews. These included participants in the Mitsubishi Day and members of the Mitsubishi Club Italy with 30 crews.

80 vehicles were registered for a total of 200 participants in the National Lunae Trail Excursion organised by the Sarzana Fuoristrada Club. Large numbers on the track too, where around 650 people including preparers, private individuals and partners of the club took part.

Finally, great success for the 3rd national rally for Elaborare 4×4 involving a large group of Lancia Delta four-wheel drive road vehicles.

The brand-new Mud Café area in Hall B was the real new feature of the event appreciated by the media, exhibitors and the public alike: a dynamic lounge that during the three days of the event held meetings, projections, testimonials and discussions with guests from the motoring world. In the same area, there was a Photo-shooting area organised by the magazine QuattroxQuattroXEvolution and RT Earth, where visitors to the event were able to have their picture taken next to the evocative 6.0 V8b tubular prototype and the Apophis 99942 motorcycle, a Ducati Monster project, conceived and designed by Luca Lamperti.

As regards the ladies, eyes focused on various initiatives starting from the ROSA INTEGRALE contest and calendar, the second edition of the Tour Rosa Integrale (Women’s Four wheel drive passion Tour) in the amazing Fantiscritti quarry and the Women’s World Car of the Year initiative, which hosted 6 automotive journalists, jurors of the prestigious award from Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Greece and South Africa  who met the public at the Mud Café to talk about all-wheel drive and off-road driving safety, as well as the procedures for the World Car of the Year 2019, starting with 4×4 cars and SUVs tested at the IMM_CarraraFiere event.

Still on the subject of women, in January 2020 the 43rd edition of the Dakar will be taking place in Saudi Arabia, where the ban on driving for women has recently been lifted and hence the competition opens up to female crews. There are already 15 women registered and the Arab government will be investing 70 million euros in the Dakar over the next 5 years, joining in a cultural change that is opening up to tourism through motor sport. Special thanks go to Renato Rickler and R Team for having again chosen the 4x4Fest stage to present his sports programmes and ideally start the first stage leading up to the 2020 Dakar.

As every year, the Italian Off-Road Federation, in addition to being present on the track and in the rallies, was active in an area of 400 square metres with the 17 Regional Delegations of the FIF Village.  Also present this year, ACSI Motorsport with its National Off-Road sector and for the first time the 4×4 ASI-CONI Off-Road Sector too, representing 10 member clubs.   CSEN (National Educational Sports Centre) was also back at the Show with the National School for Safe Driving Off-road – SUV – ATV, Academy 4×4.

The second edition of the Best Innovation Award set up by IMM_CarraraFiere to promote innovation for the off-road sector and accessories went to the Vicenza-based company Dukic Day Dream srl for the EconoTruck anti-particulate device for the reduction and elimination of pollutant emissions from the combustion of diesel engines. Osram, the world leader in automotive lighting in Carrara for the first time, won the Best Innovation approved by the FIF for the additional LED Driving high beam.

For the 4x4Fest explorers, Garmin, the technical partner of the 2019 edition, designed the New Overlander, an all-in-one multi-satellite navigation device (GPS, Galileo and Glonass).   In thanking all the operators for their precious contribution in achieving the set goals, confirming the uniqueness of the 4x4Fest in Italy and worldwide, the CarraraFiere managers are already working to gather opinions and suggestions aimed at laying the foundations for the twenty-year edition of the event.
