Carrara, 13 September 2019
Tours, rallies and excursions for every taste and technical ability at the nineteenth edition of 4x4Fest, from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th October.
Thanks to the hard work by IMM/CarraraFiere and the precious contribution of the Italian Federation of Off-Road (FIF), the 2019 edition will once again be featuring the traditional Tour of the Quarries in two versions.
The traditional visit to the Fantiscritti Marble Quarries enjoying the stunning scenery of the Carrara marble basins set in the Apuan Alps will have various daily departures from the car park facing the sea from entrance n° 3 in Viale Cristoforo Colombo, Marina di Carrara, starting from 08:30 (every 35/40 minutes; last departure Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October at 17:00). The duration of the Tour is about two hours. Participation is reserved for owners of 4×4 or SUV vehicles (children up to 10 years old go for free) who can actually go inside the famous “Fantiscritti” marble quarry in their own vehicles, on a very touristic route mainly on asphalt roads, with a stop to enjoy local food. Visitors can also be just passengers, on board the official vehicles of the Italian Off-Road Federation with the Instructors at the wheel. Registrations can be made directly at the exhibition centre (for info: email@example.com).
As always, the highlight of the entire event, the Tour to the Apuan marble quarries. More technical and “100% off-road”, this tour that started in 2018 is in the programme with a new itinerary that will reach the imposing Breccia Capraia quarry in the Municipality of Massa. The tour offers several daily departures (Friday 11 October only one afternoon departure; Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October: two departures in the morning and two in the afternoon) and is reserved exclusively for real “hard” off-road vehicles with gearboxes or those made available by the Federal School. The Technical Tour, which lasts about 3 hours, will cross the unique, breath-taking landscapes of the Apuan Alps and will include a stop to taste some local food. Registrations can be made directly at the exhibition centre (for info: firstname.lastname@example.org).
The exclusive adventure to discover Alta Versilia returns. The Tour of the Corchia quarries 2019, organised by the FIF in the spectacular scenery of Alta Versilia, will be available with departures Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October at 09:30 from the maritime jetty of Tonfano, in Piazza XXIV Maggio in Marina di Pietrasanta. Participation is reserved for 4×4 vehicles equipped with gearboxes: five hours and 100 km from Pietrasanta to Serravezza and Levigliani with the tasting of local products. An amazing journey up to the Tavolini quarry of Monte Corchia, one of the peaks of the Apuan Alps known throughout the world for the beauty of the marble extracted with breath-taking scenery; a visit to the Piastraio quarry with two separate areas accessible with your own off-road vehicle: an “open-air” quarry and an underground quarry. From 14:30, the return journey passing throughTre Fiumi, a wild, rugged valley at 750 metres above sea level, entering the province of Massa-Carrara, through the Galleria del Tecchia and down to the exhibition centre where those who wish can test their vehicle on the track set up by federal instructors on the beach along the Marina di Carrara promenade. The new 2019 feature for the “girls in pink” off-road enthusiasts is the creation of a 2020 Calendar” of which they will be the stars. The initiative, set up by the Organisers of 4×4 Fest in collaboration with the magazine Offroad Lifestyle and Paolo Baraldi Photographer, involves the selection of 15 girls among the participants in the special photo contest and the subsequent setting up of a photo shoot in Carrara to make the calendar, which will be available at the event.
